What is intermodal transport?

Transporting merchandise using at least two modes of transport, in the same unit load and with no stuffing or stripping.

By extension, intermodality is defined as a transport system in which two or more modes of transport are used by the same unit load or the same road vehicle, with no stuffing or stripping, providing a door-to-door transport chain.
